The mobile, switchable sheet separator recently developed by Goudsmit Magnetics from Waalre ensures fast and safe separation of adhesive or oiled steel sheets up to a thickness of about 4 mm. This prevents simultaneous picking up of two sheets at the same time, which can cause disruption of the automated process and damage tools and dies. The strong neodymium magnet-equipped plate separator is hand-operated and is considerably lighter in weight than previous versions. Weighing 14 kg, it is easy to move and flexible to use, also because it requires no power supply. The magnetic package is easily switched on and off by a rotary mechanism. The strength is variably adjustable and air pressure is not required; this makes it durable and flexible. The system is also very safe to use due to the visible switchable magnetic field and the consequent absence of radiating magnetism. Goudsmit developed the mobile sheet separator especially for the automotive sector and has now included it in its standard delivery programme. The spreading magnet is also well applicable in other -semi- automatic processes, such as on press systems and laser cutting machines. Operation
Magnetic sheet separators find their application in, among others, the sheet processing industry and in automated production cells. Because the steel sheets are oiled or stick together for some other reason, several sheets can be stacked off at the same time. This causes production downtime as well as the aforementioned damage to dies and tools. The use of strong neodymium plate separators ensures that plates -despite the oil film- separate from each other, after which they can be lifted off the stack one by one. The manually adjustable magnetic field ensures a safe and sustainable working environment and prevents unnecessary delays in the production process.
