DESTACO Introduces RCM/RFM Series Pneumatic Pivot Units

New units have just one cylinder length for all opening angles with a significantly shorter design that features an integrated, patented locking system

Auburn Hills, Michigan (April 21, 2021) DESTACO is pleased to announce the availability of its new RCM/RFM Series Pneumatic Pivot Units. They have been designed to offer greater flexibility and space-saving installation, and will replace the GR and RC Series models. The components feature a toggle lock and are driven by a pneumo-hydraulic cylinder that can move large devices used in welding and assembly applications. Like their predecessor models, the new models can be installed both horizontally and vertically.

"Being able to change the opening angle saves time. There is no need to readjust the improved sensor kit to recognize open and closed positions. Its fixed inductive sensor system ensures even greater accuracy and significantly reduces the need for spare part storage," said Christian Schubert, Global Product Manager at DESTACO, in explaining the main benefits of the RCM/RFM pneumatic pivot units.
While the cylinders of the predecessor series featured different lengths depending on the configured opening angles of the head, all pivot units now come with the same cylinder length, which are available in four sizes.
The RFM series also includes an integrated locking mechanism. The patented system uses racks and ensures a safe stop of work processes or during a compressed air outage. The integrated mechanical rack locking mechanism ensures a secure and reliable locking process, meaning the piston rod blocking system is no longer needed. This also allows the entire unit to be shortened. That is why the models of the RFM series are between 44.5 to 134 millimeters shorter than those of the current GR series.
The new pivot units are direct replacements for those of the predecessor series. They use the same pivot arm types and the standard hole pattern for easy installation in existing applications.
