Chef Robotics Announces NSF-Certified Flexible Meal Assembly Robot

The certification shows that Chef's robot meets strict food safety and cleanability standards.

Chef Robotics, a leader in AI-enabled robotic meal assembly for the food manufacturing industry, today announced that its robotic module C-001748 is NSF-certified. The certification means that the robot adheres to strict food safety and cleanability standards. Chef Robotics customers can rely on the robot to perform food-safe handling of ingredients throughout their production process.

NSF certifications play a critical role in ensuring the safety and hygiene of food manufacturing equipment. They cover the design, materials, construction, and performance of the equipment to ensure it is safe for food contact and easy to clean and sanitize.

Chef's AI-enabled meal assembly robot operates alongside workers on food production lines, picking and placing ingredients from conveyors into trays. The robot has been certified against NSF's commercial food equipment standard "NSF/ANSI 169 - Special Purpose Food Equipment and Devices." Within that standard, it is the only certified "Food Portioning Robotic Module," according to NSF's website.

"This NSF certification is a significant milestone for Chef," said Rajat Bhageria, CEO and Founder of Chef Robotics. "It gives our customers added confidence that our robots are food-safe, sanitary, and easy to clean. By showing that our product meets rigorous food manufacturing standards, we're able to strengthen our relationships with existing customers and better support new partners across the industry."

The certification follows a recent announcement that Chef's robots have completed over 50 million food servings in production at customer sites. It marks another key step as the company continues to scale flexible meal assembly automation across the food industry.
