PARMATECH TO SPEAK ON PROCESS REQUALIFICATION OF MIM-420 STAINLESS STEEL AT MIM2012 CONFERENCE

ATW Companies, a leading provider of custom manufactured metal components and services, announcesthat Greg Goto, senior project engineer of ATW'sParmatech Corporationsubsidiary, will be presenting "Process Re-Qualification of MIM-420 Stainless Steel from Changes in Powder Supply,"at MIM2012

WARWICK, RI-ATW Companies, a leading provider of custom manufactured metal components and services, announcesthat Greg Goto, senior project engineer of ATW'sParmatech Corporationsubsidiary, will be presenting "Process Re-Qualification of MIM-420 Stainless Steel from Changes in Powder Supply,"at MIM2012, the International Conference of Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics, and Carbides, which will be held March 19-21, 2012 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, in San Diego, California. The presentation will be given on Tuesday, March 20th at 11:30 a.m.

Mr. Goto is a member of the first class of PMT recipients and has received three grand prizes in the Powder Metallurgy Design Excellence Awards given out by Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF)over the last ten years. His presentation will discuss the results of a material qualification studyon the effects on feedstock of replacing gas atomized powder with water atomized powder. It will examine processing characteristics, mechanical properties and microstructure comparisons.
Mr. Goto's presentation explains how the effects of powder properties on MIM processing must be considered when re-qualifying or changing material vendors. Critical variables in a typical material development will only provide part of the solution. Understanding the additional continuity requirements while trying to make this switch in a production environment will be discussed.
