A survey conducted by TraceParts is giving industrial marketing experts a clearer insight into the needs of engineers and designers

3,219 design professionals answered the survey and described their needs in terms of technical information and marketing

Saint-Romain, France - September 22, 2020 - TraceParts, a world-leading supplier of digital content for engineering, has announced the publication of the results of a survey that ran for several months on its CAD content platform in five different languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian).


For the first time, TraceParts has carried out an in-depth survey into the marketing preferences of the engineering and design community in an attempt to gain a clearer understanding of where they find the information that they need to take critical decisions for their work.

This research report has been designed to give industrial firms a greater insight into the information needs of engineers and designers by providing key data to guide their marketing plans and strategies in 2021 and beyond.

Here are some of the survey's key findings:
- 86% of respondents have an influence on purchase decisions
- 57% of the information that engineers and designers search for comes from the supplier's or manufacturer's website
- 70% of the design professionals polled download one to four marketing materials on average before they are ready to be contacted
- 49% of engineers and designers claim that product datasheets / CAD models are their preferred marketing content
- 70% of engineers and designers prefer an email for a first interaction
