SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich., September 15, 2022 - Making its first appearance at the FUNDI EXPO in Monterrey, Mexico, KUKA Robotics will spotlight end-to-end automation solutions and applications expertise for the casting and foundry industry in booth #929. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to meet with experienced industry personnel and discuss the company's latest innovations for increasing production efficiency and throughput.

With its range of solutions for the die-casting industry, KUKA automates all die-casting tasks from part removal to the finished component - all within one cell. This includes foundry-specific removal from the die casting machine via die spraying and quenching of the parts along with subsequent trimming with trim presses and trim tools. Additionally, KUKA provides process simulation and visualization for automated cell control that ensures quality and process consistency.

A KUKA complete energy-saving automated die-casting cell system provides complete control without interface problems, and a KUKA in-house, field-proven software connects all components including the peripheral equipment. As part of the interface, the robot control gathers information from all active components and peripheral units and evaluates them for optimizing performance, while the operator's monitor gives a view to all production-relevant information.

With over 50 years of experience, KUKA is a proven competent and reliable partner in the foundry technology sector. From casting machines to immersion cooling basins through to spotting and fast trimming presses, KUKA provides all the necessary technology for a modern and efficient foundry.

To meet all the requirements of today's foundry processes, KUKA supplies robots that are highly resistant to heat, corrosion, acid and alkaline substances, including special seals on their motors and gearboxes, pressurization option and special paint finish.

KUKA's wide foundry product range encompasses robot payload capacities from 20 to 1,300 kg with reaches up to 3,100mm and repeatability of +/- 0.04mm. For flexibility, the robots mount on floors, ceilings, walls or at angles.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
