Ellison Technologies Automation returns from Automate 2013 tradeshow in Chicago
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (Tuesday, January 29, 2013) - Ellison Technologies Automation displayed some of the most recent automation technology at Automate 2013 which partners with the ProMat Material Handling tradeshow held at McCormick Place in Chicago January 21-24, a show attended by over 30,000 visitors from across the globe.
Held every couple of years, Automate is a tradeshow that helps showcase robotic technologies and solutions along with other material handling products, garnering interest from manufacturers and visitors from around the world. This year's show was no different.
At the show, Ellison Technologies Automation displayed a Vertical Machining Center integrated with a robotic loading and unloading system, equipped with a newly introduced 3D area sensor to help the robot pick component parts randomly located within a parts bin and place them into the machining center. Also included in the cell was an autocal laser measuring system which inspected the part after the machine process was completed. Show attendees could get a first-hand look at the machining process as well as the 3D area sensor.
"The FANUC Robotics 3D area sensor is a relatively new product which provides a means to handle parts without expensive feeding devices or individual part fixturing prior to loading into the machining center," says Greg Olenick, Vice President of Ellison Technologies Automation. "Being able to showcase a working manufacturing cell with the bin picking technology at Automate 2013 to manufacturers from around the world created a significant amount of interest with those that visited the show."
