UltraFlex Showcases Efficient Induction Brazing in Hydrogen Environments

UltraFlex Power Technologies, a leading manufacturer of digitally controlled induction heaters, recently demonstrated the time- and energy-efficient process of induction brazing in hydrogen environments.

UltraFlex Power Technologies, a leading manufacturer of digitally controlled induction heaters, recently demonstrated the time- and energy-efficient process of induction brazing in hydrogen environments. This breakthrough solution can help customers achieve increased productivity, enhanced brazing quality, improved energy efficiency, and heightened process safety.

The trial was conducted with five different tube samples provided by a potential customer who sought to replace their old induction heating equipment. The brazing process was conducted in a hydrogen environment using a range of high-power, CW, and pulse traveling wave tubes (TWT).

UltraFlex engineers suggested using a 5-15 kW induction heater from the UltraFlex UltraHeat W Series. UltraHeat W are advanced, cost-effective systems featuring adaptive digital phase control and a wide frequency range. The induction heatin g process employed a 4-turn custom induction coil to heat the samples.

The tests revealed significant reductions in heat cycle times compared to the customer's existing solution, ranging from 27 seconds for the first sample down to just 2 seconds for the last three samples. Using a 10 kW power supply and a custom induction coil, UltraFlex was able to achieve efficient heating cycles for the customer's application.

Boston Dynamics Webinar - Why Humanoids Are the Future of Manufacturing

Join us November 18th for this Webinar as we reflect on what we've learned by observing factory floors, and why we've grown convinced that chasing generalization in manipulation—both in hardware and behavior—isn't just interesting, but necessary. We'll discuss AI research threads we're exploring at Boston Dynamics to push this mission forward, and highlight opportunities our field should collectively invest more in to turn the humanoid vision, and the reinvention of manufacturing, into a practical, economically viable product.
