Small Pixel Size Combined with Large Field of View Makes Chromasens 3D Camera Versatile Solution

Like all Chromasens 3DPIXA cameras, the 3DPIXA wave dual 7μm simultaneously extracts true 3D shape data and captures 2D color images of objects under inspection, all in a single pass, giving a more complete picture for analysis.

KONSTANZ, GERMANY, MARCH 17, 2025 -- Chromasens, a brand of TKH Vision, continues to bring robust solutions to the machine vision industry with its 3DPIXA wave dual 7μm stereo line scan camera with factory-calibrated lens. Striking a balance between resolution, sensitivity, and cost, the camera is capable of scanning at 6.8µm per pixel with a wide Field of View (FOV) of 100mm (3.93 inches), making it versatile for mid-to-high precision tasks, such as detecting solder joint quality on a 100mm PCB or verifying tolerances on small components where accuracy in the micrometer range is critical.

Like all Chromasens 3DPIXA cameras, the 3DPIXA wave dual 7μm simultaneously extracts true 3D shape data and captures 2D color images of objects under inspection, all in a single pass, giving a more complete picture for analysis. The 2D images supply detailed visual information about texture, color, and surface appearance while the 3D data provides spatial information, such as depth, shape, and volume. In 2D, optical resolution is 5μm/pixel, whereas in 3D, height resolution is 0.55μm over a 400mm height range.

High speed ensures the camera captures, processes, and acts upon data without latency, enabling greater throughput. Up to 14700 pixels as measurement points are possible at a line rate of 29.7 kHz (124mm/second), although this can be increased at lower resolutions. This is important because motion blur can obscure critical details in applications involving fast moving conveyor belts.

Featuring a trilinear CCD color sensor, the 3DPIXA wave dual 7μm is ideal for inspecting small components like electronic circuits, semiconductor wafers, and precision machined parts for scratches, misalignments, or dimensional inaccuracies. It can also be used to assess food quality and scan metal surfaces. Cost-effective integration is ensured by the camera's universal CameraLink interface and Chromasens 3D-API. It is recommended that the camera be paired with Chromasens Corona II illumination for best performance.
