MIRAI - Using AI to Train Robotic Arms

MIRAI learns by watching demonstrations: a human guides the robotic arm through various motions, MIRAI watches, generalizes and learns to solve the same task autonomously.

How to Improve the Precision of Positioning Stages with ACS Dynamic Error Compensation

Precision motion systems always exhibit some amount of positioning inaccuracy (or position error) due to various factors. These errors can be measured using external measurement devices, such as a laser interferometer...

What are Service Robots?

Most professional service robots are semi-autonomous or fully autonomous robots that have some mobility and interact with people, usually in a retail, hospitality, healthcare, warehouse or fulfillment setting

DC Motors as Generators

Both brushed and brushless DC motors can be operated as generators. However, there are some important points to consider when designing the drive.

Talking Drone Telepresence with Renner Vaughn of Cape

Our technology enables organizations across a wide spectrum of industries, from public safety and oil and gas to telecommunications and utilities, to integrate drones into daily workflows to reduce costs

Ridgeback Takes 3D Printing to the Next Level

How can you print something larger than the printer itself? That's the problem researchers Xu Zhang, Mingyang Li, Quang-Cuong Pham, and others set out to solve at the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing...

MiR500 Mobile Cobots Make Traffic Safer in Kverneland's Factory

"The robot saves at least five hours in transport time a week, and the working day is quieter and calmer," Broberg said. "I already take 15,000 to 17,000 steps a day in my job, so I definitely don't miss the walk to the pallet stacker."

Benefits of Collaborative Robots

It is true that a collaborative robot is designed to work without additional physical guarding like fencing. But the robot is rarely a lone component in a system.

Interview with COMAU - The e.DO Experience

Comau developed e.DO precisely to support and stimulate students' involvement and creativity during in-school and extracurricular learning activities.

How Do You Know If Your Company Is Ready For AI?

Regardless of the size of the company or industry in which it operates, adding automation into a business environment can mean a significant shift in the way an organization conducts itself.

Making Robotic Systems Maintenance Easy at Kuka

Ease-of-use is a key element for improving maintenance pains for electronics manufacturers. When the robotic cell is designed for simplicity, it makes maintenance and management much easier for electronic manufacturers.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
