A Fossil as a Friend

Making a legged robot walk is not simple. Coordinating the motion of all its joints to achieve smooth motions, close to those of real animals, requires advanced engineering and careful observation of moving animals. But what if its been extinct for 300 million years?

RobotUnion Selects the 20 Best European Robotics Startups

RobotUnion offers a total of 4M€ in equity-free funding in two open calls for startups and SMEs within the framework of the Horizon 2020 program funded by the European Commission.

World's First Composite Concrete 7th Axis used for the First Time In Series Production at Car Manufacturer

Commissioned OEM Eisenmann alpha-tec regularly automates complex railway-oriented applications with industrial robots and is familiar with the latest developments on the 7th-axis market. That's why they use the world's first composite concrete 7th axis from IPR

Autonomous Mobile Manipulation Robots and e-Commerce Fulfillment

The sophisticated integration of perception sensors, autonomous navigation, manipulation, and artificial intelligence in Swift warehouse robots enables maximum picking productivity across single pick, trays, and totes.

Solving the Mysteries of the Universe

Instead of a new eyepiece or objective lens, the four-meter reflector telescope is being outfitted with about 5,000 fiber optic sensor-equipped, pencil-sized robots. The 5,000 robots will fit inside ten wedge-shaped petals.

Smart Production Lines in Automotive Industry Use Cobots

Much like other industries, the automotive industry is changing. With the increase in the variety of vehicle models, variants, and derivatives being produced and the shorter product life cycles in the automotive industry.

Is Robotization Destroying or Creating Jobs?

The human vs. robot topic in workplaces has been in the spotlight for quite a while. While many people are concerned about the risk that robots would massively replace humans, the truth is that robotization is actually creating jobs.

Solve Loading Dock Challenges With Robotic Unloading

This Honeywell Intelligrated white paper examines the specific labor, operational and technological challenges on the loading docks of distribution centers (DCs), and introduces a new solution to help deliver the performance modern supply chains require.

Treating Heart Disease with Robotic Precision and Safety

Stereotaxis Robotic Magnetic Navigation (RMN) enables physicians to better perform cardiac ablation procedures (the least invasive type of heart surgery) by providing unprecedented catheter precision and stability inside the delicate tissue of a beating heart.

First-ever Successful Mind-controlled Robotic Arm Without Brain Implants

Being able to noninvasively control robotic devices using only thoughts will have broad applications, in particular benefiting the lives of paralyzed patients and those with movement disorders.

IDS Imaging Case Study - Automatic Quality Control in Car Body Construction in Real Time

For manufacturers, the reliability of the quality control of industrial parts of all kinds is crucial, because defective parts due to non-conformity have serious effects on production performance.

The Robotics Engineering Job Market: Expected Growth and Changes

As society becomes more dependent on technology, the robotics engineering job market will go through changes. Here are some of the things to expect this year and in the near future.

How the Combination of Robotics and AI Can Transform Industries

"High levels of up-front expenditure, both in development and hardware, characterise the space, typically demanding large scale pain points before investment begins."

The Shift to Driverless Trucks Will Open Up Fulfilling Careers

Tests over the past five years around the globe show that autonomous trucks can be efficiently/effectively deployed now for standard environments but are not ready to handle such things as inclement weather, construction zones and similar issues.

Industrial Robots Stepping in to Help Economies with Inadequate and Expensive Labor Force

The process of training robots through virtual Reality is referred to as Imitation learning. This technique assists a robot to absorb several skills in a low-cost and low risk environment. The robots can easily mimic the human, guided by machine learning algorithms.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
